Erk...

I have not been picking the needles close to one week now, too busy...yeah rite!!! More like too lazy..hehehe...

Anyhooo, how did my interest in this handwork begins? Back in primary school my mum used to do crocheting, and I took liking in it. Soon I learnt how to make 'tali air' and then progress to other stiches. Crotchet is definitely easier than knitting. My mom used to have stacks of photocopied patterns, we only understood the symbols, the rest are in Japanese.. ;)

I even made some doilies to used as TV covers back when I was in secondary school. Last I did crotchet stuffs was when my older sister got engaged. We (mum and I) crochet 7 in total if I'm not mistaken.

Anyhoo...till I have good projects to showcase, layan je my last art piece ;) very the simple, but I like.

Will be on leave tomorrow for Aidiladha, supposed to be working now instead of updating this blog, tapi macam dah check out, my brain is jammed for work.. ;p

Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha ;) Don't overdose on the daging korban!!

I was this close to having heart attack...

Portugal not in for SA yet, they have to play with Bosnia for the play off. I watched the repeat of the first leg few days before and Bosnia did give a good run for their money. Man, they were almost on the verge of getting an equaliser at the very last minute.

There was one attempt when the one Bosnian player shoot, it hits the post bounce back to another Bosnian player, tried the second shot, only to be saved by again, the post. I almost had cardiac arrest watching that. Portugal won 1-0 but the second leg will be tough, and they will be playing in Bosnia. As much as I want to support fellow Muslim (if at all the Bosnian players are) my heart goes to Portugal long long time ago. Enough about the qualifiers, lets talk about my planning.

My first choice for accomodation is Penthouse on Long. The pics looks very nice, but I have been procrastinating the booking, they are not able to accomodate 3 of us for the one week. So I have confirmed my booking with the second choice, Zebra Backpackers, although the name is not at vogue as Penthouse on Long, the pics are quite OK, and the price was good too. So I book the 3 bed/ room for the 3 of us.

Tentative date is from 28th June to 4th July. I have confirmed tickets for :

  • 29th June 2010 : Match 56 20:30 and
  • 03rd July 2010 : Quater final 16:00
Am so excited, am praying hard I can go there, no hiccups InsyaAllah...
Flight is a bit of uncertain for now. One month back I surveyed, MAS still the cheapest, but then last week when I re-check the flight is no longer there...wth??? I am hoping next year, there will be MAS travel fair and I can get good bargain.. Insyaallah... :)

Finally!!!!

Knitfreak finally learns to knit ;) yay!!!! I was in this mentoring session previous week and the mentor was wearing two gorgeous knitwear, and since she's a 'minah saleh' I figured probably she knits it herself :) So I asked. it turns out she bought the two tops, but she actually can knit!!!

So I started rambling about my non-existence knit adventure, kind off, how I bought 2-3 books but never really understood how to knit a simple line..hehehe...and she was generous enough to offer some free lessons. So the next day after lunch she helps me picks up a suitable yarn for my level (obviously beginner..hehehe..) and she taught me how to make slipknot, casting on, knit and purl.

Shown above is my first attempt to knitting, and that is the purl side ;)

Basically if you know how to knit and purl, you can learn the rest on your own. And this is my first ever 'sifu' at knitting. She is our consultant in Process Safety, based in The Hague, but she's originally came from Nova Scotia, Canada where there are lots of fisherman, and according to her, even her husband knows how to knit, coolll :)

I have started to learn few patterns, have not taken any pics yet. Will update tomorrow.
p/s: I think I can make a scarf now...hehehe...a bit ambitious, I know... :p

Shaken

Yesterday we had a very heavy downpour in PD. Its started in the afternoon, very heavy rain followed by thunder.

I was waiting for the rain to ease down so that I can go back but untill 6.30 nothing much changed, so I decided to go back after all. Along my way back there were few places that the water level risen quite high, some almost to 1 ft.

I get onto the main road leading to my house only to realise that water has risen way too high and I could not turn anywhere as everywhere was filled with water. The road was flooded. There was another car in front of me, I shifted to gear 2 and I saw 3 cars stalled along the road. I was praying so hard that I will not be one of it. I can see streaks of lightning at the same time. Both of my knees were shaken, I was very nervous, I tried balancing on the accelarator and clutch. Finally I get to the safe area, but my knees just wont stop shaking.

I made it to home safely. This morning I turned on the engine, press the clutch, and I could get into gear 1. I know something is wrong somewhere, I turned off the engine. Damn...how am I supposed to go to work if I could not even get to gear 1?

I tried playing with the gear with the engine off, it moved just fine. So I decided to press the clutch, shift to gear 1 and start the engine. The car jerks a bit, but at least it can start. I have actually bypassed the system, not a good way to start the morning, the exhaust was emitting white smoke, which I have never seen before. I figured something is wrong with either my clutch of anything, I don't know about engine, but I guessed this is the after effect of driving through the almost 2ft deep water.

Managed to get to office but I have to spend time to get my car checked. Not sure if I get off fine this time.
